The 4 Phases of Skills Transference

Recently, I am taking a module on Video Creation. I shall use this as an example to demonstrate how the “The 4 Phases of Skills Transference works. “Father and son team is now at Phase 2 under the 4-phase skills development process; both are involved in video shoots and editing.

Phase 1: I do, you see

Phase 2: I do, you do

Phase 3: You do, I see

Phase 4: You do, I don't see

Phase 1: I do, you see

When I was creating my first video with Tze Yu, I was the person full directing the video shoot. Thereafter, I showed him how the editing was done. This video is entitled ‘Time’ that details what a day looks like for Tze Yu.

Phase 2: I do, you do

This second video was shot with both of our input. The editing portion was done by both of us. In fact, Tze Yu is the one who chose the music.

Phase 3: You do, I see

This third video was shot mostly by Tze yu. The editing portion that includes the music was fully done by him. I only play the role of a guide whenever he has questions or uncertainty.

Phase 4: You do, I don't see

I am looking forward to the 4th phase whereby he can shoot and edit all by himself. Of course, the greatest bonus is when he can transfer the video creation to another person using the same framework.

Is there any methodology you would use to train or develop your child?
